THE OPEN HOUSE

THE OPEN HOUSE

One of the best ways for Malaysians to integrate and weave strong ties of friendship is to visit each other during festivals. The Open House, as we Malaysians know it, is actually a time and day set a side for us to invite our friends and relatives to join in the celebration. Invitations to Open Houses are usually give verbally or through invitation cards. The time for Open Houses will be stated, for example, from 1.00p.m to 3.00p.m. Please make sure you go during that time. Many Open Houses are held through out the day with guests staying for refreshments and a chat. As Open Houses become more popular these days, they are often held in hotels and private clubs instead to accommodate the large number of guests. If your invitation card to an Open House has R.S.V.P, threat it as you would any other invitation to lunch or dinner. Reply as soon as possible. The Malaysian tradition of holding Open Houses is an excellent way fostering respect, unity and understanding among the various races.
